i believe that no one is ever too old to read children's books such as The Giving Tree. you can also discover or in my case rediscover something meaningful from a thin book filled with almost all illustrations with simple words in simple sentences. my favorite author during my childhood was Shel Sliverstein, the author of The Giving Tree. This is one of my favorite poems from his collection of poetry called A Light in the Attic:
The Little Boy and the Old Man
Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

aww yeah :/
even though the novels we read for school are great.. kids' books always teach us the basic fundamentals and simplest philosophies of life.
